What is The Happiness Project: Revisited?

Month by month, you’ll join Gretchen Rubin in revisiting the themes from her book The Happiness Project, both as a reflection and current application in 2024.

As Gretchen embarks on another personal happiness project, you can expect real-time updates about what she’s learning and how she is linking her work together. At the same time, you’ll be exploring your own year of self-knowledge, figuring out how to be happier, healthier, more productive, and more creative in the way that works for you.

How It's Different

We spent the last year developing The Happiness Project: Revisited to ensure that it’s truly unique and additive to any other course you may have taken with Gretchen. Informed by feedback from previous course participants and packed full of new insights and discoveries from her ongoing research, this collaborative, multi-media format is designed to help you make progress in the areas that matter most to you.

  • Audio-First Approach

Designed so you can listen on the go, wherever and whenever works best for your schedule. Kick off each month with an exclusive audio episode that includes fresh insights and observations from Gretchen and her Happier with Gretchen Rubin co-host and sister, Elizabeth Craft.

  • Choose the Tracks You Want to Work On

Each monthly theme offers several tracks to choose from, so that you can focus on what’s most applicable and interesting in your life right now. This flexibility is built into all materials for The Happiness Project: Revisited, allowing you to customize an approach that suits you best. There are so many ways to do a happiness project!

  • Your Personal Playbook

You’ll receive a 100-page playbook in the mail that is yours to work through and develop throughout the year. Filled with carefully selected Know Yourself Better questions, fun visual exercises, and thought-provoking prompts, you’ll end the year with a useful personal resource that doubles as a beautiful keepsake.

  • More Ways to Interact With Others

Join monthly group check-ins with Gretchen and other participants. You’ll hear how Gretchen’s happiness project is going, share what you’re working on, and learn from others. New for this year, join online discussion communities tied to monthly themes. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, get ideas, and find support from others as you go.

  • Jump-Start Your Resolutions

Participate in monthly challenges designed to help you get started on your aims for the month. Each challenge includes seven days of short, practical, actionable prompts tied to that month’s theme. Use these challenges as a tool for experimenting with and refining your aims so that you end the month with an understanding of what works for you (and what doesn’t).

  • Write Your Personal Commandments

This exercise was a key part of Gretchen’s original happiness project and remains important in her work today. Throughout the year, you’ll be prompted to consider your personal commandments as you build and apply self-knowledge. By the end of the year, you’ll have written your own set of commandments, a deliverable that you can carry forward as you continue pursuing your aims.
